About the Society
The Glasgow Odontological Society, which celebrated its centenary in 2002, is open to all dental practitioners.
It has been a forum for dentists to meet socially and to listen to quality speakers on relevant dental topics since
its inauguration in 1902.
The Society meets six times a year from October to March, usually on the third Tuesday evening in the month
from 7.30 pm and hosts an excellent formal annual dinner.
The majority of meetings are held in Lecture Theatre 1 in Glasgow Dental Hospital and School, which has first
class audio-visual facilities.
Four or five meetings per session are recognised for verifiable CPD and eligible practitioners can also claim
CPDA. Each year the programme includes a range of topics which are relevant to general dental practitioners,
salaried dental practitioners and to those in hospital and academic practice. Normally one of the General
Dental Council’s recommended Core CPD Subjects is included in the annual programme.
At only £20 per year, membership is excellent value. Members receive, by email or post, a syllabus with the
year's meeting dates and a list of the membership as well as notices for forthcoming meetings and events.
The annual dinner held in February each year is always well attended and enjoyed. It is an opportunity to meet
socially with partners.
The Society is always delighted to welcome new members and ensures that they are made most welcome.
We are particularly keen to see younger practitioners come along to the meetings and ultimately get involved
in ensuring the continued success of the Society.
